Island Bay United is proud to be the host of the South Coast Girls Academy. IBU has combined with Brooklyn Northern Juniors and Wellington United to provide opportunities for girls who want to play more football.

Girls Only Trainings Groups:

SCGA U14 - Mondays 6:30pm - 8:00pm on Wakefield Park Grass & Thursdays 4:15pm - 5:45pm on Newtown Park
SCGA U16 - Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:15 - 5:45pm on Martin Luckie Park
Girls Only Skills Builders (8 - 12 years old) - Fridays 3:30pm - 4:30pm on Wakefield Park Turf

Girls Only Talent Development Programme

This is a programme for girls who love football and want to commit more time to their sport.

This programme is focused on players who fall into the u14 Girls Only age group who want to commit to playing football at least three times a week. Participants are required to start pre-season training in term 1 when they do at least two trainings a week. There is no trial to take part, the programme requirements are commitment, attitude, respect and energy (CARE). The programme follows the same processes and culture as the other Island Bay TDP squads.

During the football season, Academy training is twice a week but girls in the programme are also actively encouraged to take part in girls only football with their home club, and/or College football if they are secondary school age. This helps ensure that they spread their passion and skills with a wider range of girls. The Academy will form teams and enter them in mixed or girls only leagues where they will get the best level of challenge.

Girls Only Skills Sessions - Friday afternoons

Join our experienced coaches for girls-only skills sessions at Wakefield Park. All female players are welcome to register, all abilities will be catered for.

The aim of these sessions will be for the girls to have fun and develop new football habits such as: running with the ball, receiving and turning, shooting and decision making in small sided games.

Girls may be grouped by the coaches based on age and ability so that they can get the best mix of challenge and support.
