TDP

Overview

What is the Talent Development Program?

The Talent Development Program (TDP) is a year-long program based around the philosophy and criteria set by NZ Football as part of their Youth Football Framework and is the replacement for the Federation System which is in the process of being phased out.

In 2019 Island Bay United was awarded a provisional licence by Capital Football to run a TDP and that license has since been ratified for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The program's goal is to provide those players in the footballing talent space with best practice development opportunities and a platform to realise their potential and knowledge of the game. As part of the requirements set out by NZ Football (and overseen by Capital Football) players are expected to meet a minimum number of weekly contact sessions over a 30-36 week period.

To be eligible for selection for the National Age Group Tournament (NAGT) and to participate in the TDP league (in September and October) players need to be part of a TDP. If your player is selected they will be expected to attend 2 identification camps held by Capital Football in April & October.

For the Island Bay United TDP players will need to commit to at least 3 sessions per week for terms 1 - 3 (with breaks during the school holidays).

Note during the winter season the 3 TDP sessions include a winter team session. In 2022 Term 4 will be optional.

How do I get my player involved?

Those interested in joining participate in a series of identification sessions at the start of the year. Please email the TDP Coordinator if you are interested beyond the start of the year.

Program Costs

The current cost of attending the IBU TDP is $320 per terms 1 and 4, $385 per terms 2 and 3.
