Ruari Cahill-Fluery returns to the 1st team for the 2020

Island Bay United are proud to announce the return of Ruari Cahill-Fluery to the 1st team for the 2020 season as we seek an immediate return to the Capital Premier grade.

New coach James Prosser commented "I'm extremely excited to have a former IBU youth product, Wellington Phoenix reserve and national league player helping lead our 1st team ranks. I believe Ruari is a massive asset to the club and community as both a person and player and I'm personally stoked to have him on board"

Ruari countered "Fantastic to have someone with Prosser's experience on board. It shows the club is committed to pushing for a return to Cap Prem and playing an exciting brand of football out on the Wakefield turf whilst doing it" :-)

Stay tuned for more news about the re-formation of the 1sts over the next couple of months

Island Bay United complete coaching line-up by welcoming back James Prosser

We are extremely pleased to announce Leonardo (Leo) Villa will continue with IBU, and will head up the development of our juniors and youth players in 2020.  Leo is excited about taking the lead on the focus of developing our junior and youth players across all of the club.  He is very keen to see greater involvement in all teams across those grades, and bringing to them some of his Argentinian flair!

In addition to Leo, we will be joined by James Prosser to head up development of our youth players and coach our senior firsts team in 2020.  James previously coached at IBU taking the first team back in the day that Paul Muollo reigned supreme!  He is excited at being back at IBU and working on building a competitive line up for the 2020 season, while continuing to develop our senior youth players, as the stars of tomorrow. James has been responsible for bring over to NZ several US university coaches, and also for getting scholarships for local players into US universities (including ex-IBU player, Will Forrest).

Leo and James will be supported by Jack Doyle who joined us in 2019 and will work across various teams in the club.  Thanks and welcome back Jack!

13th grade Sharks take out term 4 U13 futsal crown

Congratulations to the 13th grade Sharks who in their last competitive game of futsal together won the term 4 u13 futsal crown at ASB.. they were faced with the daunting task of making up a goal deficit of 24 but achieved that with aplomb by beating a young but game Onslow side 39-1... But the real tale of the title came the previous week when they beat arch rivals Samba Futsal Club 6-5 in a nail biter after leading 6-2 at the break... The team has achieved 4 titles after starting their futsal journey at the end of 9th grade... Since then there have been many goals and many great victories... I hope you all have many happy memories of your times together and the very best of luck as you start your college careers in 2020
