Junior FAQ

Where are games played?

First Kicks and Fun Football (U5 - U8) have combined training and game days on Saturday morning on the artificial turf at Wakefield Park from 8am to 9:30am.

U9 to U15 games are on sports grounds around Wellington; in general, grounds can get further away as players get older. Most of the grounds are administered by the Wellington City Council; see the Council sports grounds page for information on these.

Practice sessions are organised by the coach/manager, on one of the Island Bay council grounds - usually Wakefield or Southgate Parks.

Sportsmap website online maps for the Wellington region can be found on the Sportsmap website. Enter the name of the park you are looking for into the search box, top left of the image, and you will get a marker on a zoom in of the map.

Playing in a different grade

For a player to play outside of their age grade (up or down) they must be granted dispensation by Capital Football

Any player wishing to do so must first be assessed by our professional club coaches and approved by the Junior Coordinator before an application for dispensation is filed with Capital Football.

The process is very thorough and together the player, parents and Club should feel confident that there is good reason for applying. For more information about Capital Football's dispensation criteria and process click here

Transferring from Another Club

If you have not already registered with another club this year then it's as simple as registering with Island Bay United as outlined here

If you have already registered with another club this year you'll have to request that your membership be terminated by your current club and then the normal registration process should be followed.
